Thanks "Medical Physics Journal" AAPM TPC . Spent half an hour to set up a reviewer account and then you tell me that you have already enough reviewers. Suggestion to my colleagues Institut Polytechnique de Paris : Think twice if you want to spend time on this journal...

After the Brexit (making Europeans reluctant to go to the UK and stopping joint projects), they now kick out young non-UK researchers. What is the next step in killing your higher education system?

Asked #ChatGPT is a certain equation (6 variables, +, -, *, /) is true. Essence of the 15-line answer: It is true if the expressions on both sides are indeed equal for all values of A, B, C, D, q, and χ. OK, we need more #AIresearch... (and till then I go back to pen and paper).

One more reason to attend #Gecco2024 GECCO 2024: It will have a tutorial "Theory of Evolutionary Computation for Non-Theory People", given by a famous professeur from France 😉.

The journal version of our "Lower Bounds from Fitness Levels" paper has finally appeared in Algorithmica (published electronically April 2022, now in the February 2024 issue). Free and open access. Enjoy and use for next lower bounds! link.springer.com/content/pdf/10…

I quit as a Frontiers editor and refuse to review papers for them because of how difficult the journal makes rejecting a paper. You essentially can’t, you can only get stuck in endless reviewing loops. Still shame on everyone involved, but this is what the Frontiers system allows

Ever had the feeling that pay-to-publish sets a negative incentive for publishers like #Frontiers, #MDPI, etc. to be selective? Here’s some first-hand view on this.

Two main-track posters at #AAAI2024 tonight on runtime analysis of multi-objective optimization heuristics. Don't by shy to come by 😃

Just appeared on the arxiv😃: A tight runtime analysis of the randomized local search heuristic on the generalized needle-in-a-haystack problem. arxiv.org/abs/2403.08153# One further small step towards understanding how randomized search heuristics cope with plateaus.

The reviews for #IJCAI2024 are out. Every year something new, this time the grades are not visible. So authors will rebut even positive reviews, since they cannot be sure they are positive. #neverchangeawinningteam

New on the arxiv arxiv.org/abs/2404.02090: Noisy optimization via evolutionary algorithms. Already logarithmic population sizes can essentially remove the negative effect of noisy function evaluations. Appears at GECCO 2024 2024. From Laboratoire d'Informatique de l'X (LIX) École polytechnique Institut Polytechnique de Paris with love.

Happy to share that our paper on heuristics for the target set selection problem will appear at GECCO 2024 2024. Main take-away: Random parameters and simple greedy steps beat costly parameter tuning. arxiv.org/abs/2206.09090 From Laboratoire d'Informatique de l'X (LIX) École polytechnique Institut Polytechnique de Paris with love.

Happy to share that our paper on heuristics for the target set selection problem was nominated for the best paper award of the ECOM track at GECCO 2024. Congratulations Martin Krejca and Nguyen Vu!
