Thousands of migrants tried to cross the border from Morocco to Spain's #Ceuta enclave in the last few days. Hundreds of them were youth who tried to swim their way around controls, Spanish authorities said Monday. Police struggled to separate the arrivals from beachgoers.

Twelve migrants lost their lives while trying to cross the English Channel this week. Six were children; there was also a pregnant woman among the victims. France has called for a treaty between the EU and Britain, as yet more people risked the crossing since the capsizing.
