Ben Lowry - not all, by any means did. Ulster Unionist Party, Lord Empey & others did not. I made clear at every point that this was far from ‘best of both’, I remember being pretty direct with Theresa May & with Rishi Sunak. Boris didn’t even bother listening Doug Beattie Robin Swann MP
As Ireland gets ever greener, even moderate nationalists are already using this huge win for Catherine Connolly to demand discussions about shattering the UK (PS - unionists should start using such terms, rather than the seductive sounding "Irish unity") newsletter.co.uk/news/national/…
"She will be a toxic and divisive figure," says Jim Allister. "Connolly represents the most militant and ideological strand of southern nationalism, and she will be even more unpopular among unionists than her predecessor, which is quite an achievement” newsletter.co.uk/news/national/…
Don’t believe the hype, the Republic’s not in a happy place. It just elected its 2nd hard left president in a row, while, in its parliament, moderates can barely keep control. The left is extreme & anti-western, the right has no voice & resorts to violence newsletter.co.uk/news/opinion/c…
Sometimes the horror is overwhelming - may the Bibas family have everlasting peace. Her children were brutally murdered in front of Shiri by Hamas - this was their home at Nir Oz. Psalm 34.18 Israel ישראל We Believe in Israel
.BBC Radio Ulster talking about a United Ireland ad nauseam. As I go about my business each day, it seems like BBC Northern Ireland are the only ones discussing this self-generated, divisive subject. I’d rather hear about more pressing issues i.e. health, education, housing, employment.📻
Even some unionists urge the DUP to attend the Irish presidential inauguration. Yet the incoming president seems set to follow the partisan precedent of Michael Higgins for that supposedly apolitical post, eg scolding Britain, says Owen Polley Owen Polley newsletter.co.uk/news/opinion/o…
The fact that BBC Radio Ulster is flogging the Borderland podcast to death tells us all we need to know about public interest in the subject. Unless BBC Northern Ireland can produce evidence to the contrary, it is just a contrived talking shop and yet another waste of the licence fee.
