We're excited to kick off the BAC Speaker Series this quarter with "How Does a Harp Sound Like Incense Burning?: Sonic Spirituality in the Work of Alice Coltrane and Erykah Badu", a presentation by Kameryn Alexa Carter. Join us on October 18 at 5 PM in University Hall 201!

For our second Black Arts in the City event we will be offering tickets to the Black Harvest Film Festival "Shorts Program: Black Across Space and Time". Free tickets are available on a first come, first serve basis!

TOMORROW: Works-In-Progress Speaker Series Event, a workshop and reading with writer I.S. Jones! There will be a Workshop in University Hall 201 from 12pm-1pm and later at 5pm there will be a reading also held in University Hall 201. We can't wait to see you there!

We're happy to announce our first Speaker series event of the Winter quarter, a talk with Prof. Moya Bailey entitled "Black Arts in the Apocalypse and at the end of the Anthropocene". Join us tomorrow January 17th, 2024 at 12pm in University Hall room 201.

Did you know about the new Jazz workshop series facilitated by the Black Studies department that will be taking place throughout the Winter quarter? Jeff Parker and Makaya McCraven will be leading an improvisation session today January 23rd 4pm-5pm in the Wirtz Center room 101!

Our next Works-In-Progress series talk will be with Prof. Melissa Blanco Borelli entitled “Vivir Sabroso: Choreographies of Living in the Colombian Pacific”. This event will take place on January 31st at 12pm in the Northwestern Library room 3622 and is free and open to all!

Our next Works-In-Progress series talk will be with Prof. Dotun Ayobade entitled “Crude Acts: Staging Oil Death in Victor Ehikhamenor's The Wealth of Nations”. This event will take place on February 21st 12pm in the Northwestern Library room 3622 and is free and open to all!
