On this Memorial Day, we honor Hawkeye Football's 1939 Heisman winner Nile Kinnick. Many Heisman winners served their nation, but Kinnick was the only winner to die in service. A Navy pilot, he lost his life during an emergency landing while on a routine training flight in 1943.
