While most interurbans in Washington died by WW2, the rugged Skagit River Ry persisted until 1954.

On a 9-mile route through the mighty Cascades, it delivered supplies and workers to the aptly-named Diablo Dam. It relied on second-hand equipment on a precarious 5% ruling grade!
