I can’t believe the state of journalism at the moment 😭

Any black woman with a public profile understands the armour of steel you have to wrap around yourself to simply do your job. The threats and abuse go hand in hand with turning up to work. So, it’s a problem when what is clearly racism & abuse is defended 1/

by the upper echelons of society. Why? Because it sets a precedent from which you cannot backtrack. And puts many other black women with public profiles at risk. You think offering to shoot/harm one of us is a rarity? No it’s not 2/

Disagree with this: the real problem is that politicians think it’s ok to ignore questions and just repeat a line. It creates the cynicism and disengagement that is a feature of our political culture. It’s high time it’s called out.
