On the 1st Sunday of Advent, we light the Prophecy Candle, representing our hope in the coming Savior. “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.” Romans 15:13

On the 2nd Sunday of Advent, we light the Bethlehem Candle, representing the place where our Lord & Savior was born. Peace is the theme of this 2nd week. “The peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:7

On the 3rd Sunday of Advent, we light the Shepherd Candle, because the shepherds rejoiced at meeting the baby Jesus. Joy/rejoicing is the theme of this 3rd week. “Rejoice in the Lord always. I shall say it again: rejoice!” Philippians 4:4

On the 4th Sunday of Advent, we light the “Angel’s Candle”. Love is the theme of week 4 - Jesus said: “I give you a new commandment: love one another. As I have loved you, so you also should love one another. John 13:34
