Doing my first Smallville rewatch in a long time time and I have so many thoughts about the first season . The first of which is, they did a great job with the cast. We may never get a better live action Jonathan Kent than we did on this show.

So much if the Smallville cast is amazing. The subtle evolution of Lex Luthor is masterfully done. In Season one you can really see how he might’ve turned out differently if things had gone another way.

Still love Smallville but some of the characters on this show are deeply flawed in ways I didn’t notice before. One day I’ll write an essay about Jonathan Kent confusing stubbornness with nobility. This man keeps his family on the edge of poverty for no reason…

The Smallville music supervisors (just found out their names are Madonna Wade-Reed and Jennifer Pyken) deserve so much credit because there are few shows that do such a great job finding songs that strike the perfect tone for all of these different situations.

Smallville gave us some great villains of the week. People like Shawn Ashmore and Jonathan Taylor Thomas were surprisingly good at playing bad guys.

I still want to play Save the Citizen.
