Well it wasn’t the most straightforward thing I’ve ever done but I’ve finally got set up with an M1 Mac mini, thunderbolt to PCIe chassis, usb SATA drive bay and a fair few adapters hanging out the back. Got 6 solid years out of the hackintosh to be fair.

Back in the west after spending a week and a half mixing a film in a fantastic room in Outer Limits in Dublin. The home studio is feeling very small…

My computer today after having a little nap over the past week

Bit of an interface upgrade. Everything working fine so far. If anyone is in the market for an Avid Omni, HD Native card and thunderbolt to pci adapter let me know. I have an SPL surround monitor controller going as well. Might be useful for a WFH setup.

Last upgrade for a while…at least until the M1 Pro/Max mac mini comes out..

Hope this global shortage of electronic gear ends soon. One of my JBL Professional 708p monitors is in England for repair since EARLY NOVEMBER, and no sign of it coming back. Can’t even buy a replacement to have as a spare for when it comes back. 😤

This fantastic series starts tonight on TG4. It was great to work with such a brilliant team.

Foscadh is released in cinemas across Ireland today. Fantastic to see productions of this calibre happening in the west of the country and even better to based over here and to get to work on them! This really was a dream job.

The Queen v Patrick O’Donnell premieres tomorrow night on TG4. This was my fourth project with the FANTASTIC ROSG.ie and all of them have been so great to work on. This film also had a very successful run on the international festival circuit. Another great film from the west!

Mixed this lovely documentary a couple of weeks back. Airing tonight.

Spent a couple of weeks mixing a film in a lovely room here at the end of last year. Fantastic facilities and a great bunch of people.

Anybody else have virtually no 3rd party plug-ins show up after latest Pro Tools upgrade? Ones that are supposed to be M1 compatible? I’ve even freshly reinstalled some like Fabfilter and still not showing up?? All are still fine in Rosetta.

Found an annoying bug in Avid Pro Tools 2023.6, Instant crash if I render audiosuite, but only if the new clip is touching another clip. Renders fine if I move away from the other clip. Found it using Undertone but replicated with other plugins, anyone else fancy giving it a go?

Anyone have issues with Focusrite Red 16Line? Mine stopped putting out any audio. Working fine this morning but stopped after lunch. Thunderbolt light is green. Connected to Mac and Pro Tools. Audio metering on interface and Rednet control but no output on line outs or headphones
