Pretty-voiced Hester Van Vyver glammed the stage with poise and colour as the dressmaker Tilly. Sue Ingleton’s outrageous and uncouth Molly was a show stealer and Josh Gardiner impressed big time as Barney. Then again, there were many more names in Dungatar that did as well.

The local opera scene in Melbourne would be so undernourished without the hard work and talent Melbourne Opera combine in bringing the art form to so many. They deserve recognition...and some government funding wouldn’t go astray.
