No secret bobwhites have declined dramatically in the last 50 years. About a 3.5% decline/year across the range. A large landscape with 1000 quail in 1966 would now have less than 150. In GA it is worse, less than 50 bobwhites would remain. Why? What do we do about? Stay tuned…

Well maintained barbed wire fences built from zinc coated wire and steel posts were not degraded by fire in the tallgrass prairie. Damage found after fire is often from previous wear and/or vegetation overgrowth that burns slowly at high temperatures bit.ly/FireEffects_Fe… #fire
