This is the UC proposal for grad student wages. A gross misrepresentation of what we'd be paid. The"annual" numbers would be for those who would work as a TA 100%. WHICH NO ONE DOES because we aren't allowed. So I'd be at... 28k a year. If I work in summer? Cool. Thanks.

A rant. Every summer, I accept one HS student researcher (paid). W/o fail, (many) people make comments about how the student must be a waste of my time. When I point out specific things that the student accomplished, they say "their parents probably did it". 1/3

My hot take is that most of us have not adequately processed the trauma of the pandemic. And our sprawling, unprocessed trauma chews away at our brains in myriad ways that make us anxious about why we can’t seem to live our lives as instinctively or as joyously as we did in 2019.

1. Just wrapped up teaching a new, very experimental class designed to introduce undergraduate students to careers in archaeology, training in field methods, and designing and implementing field projects. The class felt a little like capturing lightning in a bottle.

Grad courses on archaeological theory shouldn’t be on the history of theory. They should be built around the current state of theory. You know, the stuff your students should be using to design their research… Brought to you by: making my syllabus for the grad core course.
