Happy to see the rice-shrimp farmers in Tan Bang Commune in the Mekong Delta after 3 years away because of COVID. Our trials on better management practices increased shrimp production and farm profits. UNSW Science UNSW Biological, Earth and Environmental Sciences UNSW Global Water Institute UNSW CMSI

We have liftoff! We have commenced our fourth ACIAR- funded project to increase access to protein and improve livelihoods and lifestyles in PNG. Our program commenced in 2009 and there are now over 70,000 fish farms providing protein to people in rural PNG. UNSW Biological, Earth and Environmental Sciences

1/4 Where does the seafood you buy come from? Knowing the origin of seafood is becoming increasingly important as environmental & human rights threats affect the seafood industry, but long global supply chains make it susceptible to food fraud.

Platypus sightings are once again possible for Royal National Park visitors 👀 Six months after their reintroduction, "the platypuses have adapted exceptionally well ... a testament to the robustness of the species & habitat” says lead project researcher Dr Gilad Bino 🐭🎗.

Our ACIAR-funded projects in indonesia, Vietnam and PNG have developed technologies & aquaculture practices that are transferable in the Asia-Pacific. We are excited to work with new partners in Timor Leste to increase access to protein via aquaculture.

We had the pleasure of hosting an ACIAR Fisheries Research Program visit to UNSW Science. Great discussions about researchable issues in Vietnam, Indonesia and the Philippines, and presentations from UNSW CMSI, UNSW Global Water Institute, and the Institute for Global Development.
