Washington Middle School Update: Police are investigating a shooting that occurred on the campus of Washington Middle School this afternoon. The campus is secure at this time. Due to the ongoing investigation, we are asking that parents pick up their children as soon as they can.

My heart breaks for the students, families, and staff of Albuquerque's Washington Middle School, and they are in my thoughts. My office is in touch with the district and local authorities and will continue to monitor the situation.

As we grieve with the Washington Middle School community and everyone affected by gun violence in our community, we are deeply grateful to the teams at APS and APD and throughout our community who are coming together to support all of those impacted.
