My favorite memories from birding often happen when weather is bad&this one of my highlights from earlier this year, Jan 2022. It was snowing&I spotted this beautiful Peregrine Falcon in Central Park. I experienced this moment in total peace alone. It was so very special.❀

The Common Buckeye is always a welcome sight in the neighborhood, like this one I saw last week offering us a side view, to show sort of a combo of the camouflage & 'hey look at me' aspects of these beauties!

I caught up with the Bee eaters I knew were around as I can hear them calling. Good numbers in the saltpans on the Fort Rata road. Tavira, but always distant .

Tragic destruction of Hoad’s wood also illustrates why we need legal personhood for nature. The wood supposedly had strong legal protections, but these were worthless when authorities refused to act. The wood had no guardian to act or bring a case on its behalf: this must change
