Very good crowd at #woodrise2019 in Quebec. I’m speaking at this afternoon’s plenary session, banging the drum for the #constructionrevolution #offsite #prefab #mmc #climatecrisis #lowcarbon and #masstimber

Our mobile vaccination centre proposal just published in Dezeen. We are building a team to have these ready for when a #coronavirus #vaccine is ready. #Covid_19 bit.ly/2XvoUeH

Worth reading the full thread. “The most important thing we have to do to keep people safe is to keep this planet livable for all.”

What’s the UK government’s plastic policy? Dump it on other countries! Less than 10% of our plastic recycling is actually recycled in the UK. The rest is sent overseas where it’s often burned or dumped, fuelling health and wildlife emergencies. RT to expose. #Wasteminster 1/5

It is hugely encouraging to see embodied carbon cited as a reason for refusal as well as questions over the potential for future reuse. This is significant. architectsjournal.co.uk/news/tulip-rej…

1/ "We are on a tipping point when it comes to climate change", says Anthony Thistleton. He opens by discussing #CLT in taking on climate change by allowing for carbon sequestration, displacing carbon intensive materials, and supporting the growth of global forests.

If everyone who has been grateful for NHS staff over the last two years followed and retweeted, we would reach a million in no time. It will only take a few seconds, and your support would really mean a lot to a huge number of people who continue to fight Covid-19.

Great news that Duncan Baker MP will be bringing a 10 minute rule bill before the House of Commons on 2nd February to start to regulate embodied carbon. Get writing to your MPs to support this.

This is conflict of interest for the MPA. We need accurate, consistent and objective carbon accounting. Concrete is one of the biggest single contributors to GHGs - the industry can mess around with calculations but we simply need to use much, much less. dezeen.com/2022/01/12/uk-…

😮Shocked to see the concrete industry overstating the impacts of thermal mass, durability, and carbonation in mitigating the #carbon emissions of concrete: Paper written by @AMoncaster & funded by The Open University & UK Research and Innovation here: bit.ly/3wTTaSl

it is perverse to continue with architectural curricula structured around designing for new construction Schools need to put most of their pedagogical efforts into educating architects capable of repairing and re-imagining the existing built environment placesjournal.org/article/repair…
