To teach my students self-advocacy, I have them explain what their engagement grade should be. This student believes they deserve full credit bc they “lowkey carry the discussion” & “they be talkin.”
1) They’re not wrong.
2) My students know they don’t need to code-switch for me.

I posted this silly pic and asked people to caption it. One of my loyal trolls (the ones who follow me just to make racist comments) chose hyper-sexualization & fetishization as his weapons of choice today. They claim to hate Black women but they are high key obsessed with us.

James & Jennifer Crumbley are the 1st parents of a school shooter to be convicted of involuntary manslaughter. This decision is consistent w/ the argument that the parents are to blame when a school shooting happens. Is this justice? Will this prevent future shootings?

I showed y’all his first message yesterday, but here’s his second one. And to make matters worse, he sent them after sending me pictures of what he thought was my house but actually belonged to a different Angel Jones. I need security and he needs therapy. And jail time.

When I share about the consequences of publicly advocating for racial justice, I often share these msgs. They are frightening examples of the racial violence I experience on a regular basis. This work is dangerous but my community is worth it.
