I'm just going to shout it into the void: There is not a teacher shortage. There is a SALARY SHORTAGE. There is a WORK AND LIFE BALANCE SHORTAGE. There is an EMPATHY SHORTAGE. There is a BEING TREATED LIKE A PROFESSIONAL ADULT shortage. I said what I said.

Happy #MaytheFourth! 😄 For today's mental health challenge, identify two or three instances where you displayed resilience today. Take a moment to praise yourself for bouncing back in that moment. #mhttcbyebyeburnout

And it's been a system lacking support for years. COVID was the diathesis stress test. And we need to reduce that stress. Where are our policy leaders at? Support efforts from the top down by 1) prioritizing well-being & 2) deimplementing mandates & tasks, + so much more.

I incorporated this into a break in between sessions today while talking to a friend by being playful in conversation. Nice to make a few bad jokes and get some good laughs

The fact that I can use play as a means to deflect the intensity of therapy for littles & listen to the underlying need or hurt or behavior function bubble up from that security. And I get a dope drawing for my office out of it. Using music for mindfulness. #mhttcbyebyeburnout

It was a pleasure to be a part of these webinars. What Joseph Hedger has written here are great starting questions & considerations for those who seek revolutionary improvements in the way we systemically honor & support educators and their health.

"There is no scale on X. X is super important. Here we develop a scale, & our validation study show it has decent properties. However, we obviously don't share our scale. Nor tell you where to get it. Nor rules about its use." How👏does👏this👏still👏get👏published👏in👏2021?

I see lots of well-intended efforts to promote teacher well-being during these times but most are missing the mark because they are not addressing the root causes. Just like we need to tailor solutions to the root causes of students’ needs, the same needs to occur for educators.

Looking for research comparing frequencies of various behavior functions. How common is self-stimulation, whether general pop or neurodivergent, relative to obtaining a tangible? Is there any way to determine this with any sort of general trend?
