Last week, my abstract won a travel award and short talk at the Preventative Health of Adipose Tissue (PHAT) Regional Symposium!! It was a privilege to share my type 1 diabetes story and research. Thank you Kristin Stanford and Dr Kristy Townsend for the invitation and honor!!

Truly, so fortunate to be a part of the Daniel Gallego-Perez team and to have Daniel as a mentor!! Very well deserved 🤓

Andrew will stay with us for ~1 year as a Research Associate, while he applies to MD/PhD programs across the country… please be on the lookout because any program would be lucky to have him… he’s extremely smart, hardworking, and very much determined to find a cure for T1D 💪🏼

Recently, I graduated from Ohio State with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science, Honors in Medicine, and Honors Research Distinction in Biomedical Science. While applying to medical school, I will be continuing diabetes research and volunteer work in Ghana, West Africa!!

I am excited to share that my poster presentation won 1st place at SFBiomaterials, hosted by Case Western Reserve !! Thank you to everyone who attended my oral and poster presentations on cell and gene therapies that aim to prevent, treat, and potentially cure type I diabetes.

Congrats Andrew Gotschall ! You’ve done an amazing job so far and look forward to continue working with you during this gap year… any MSTP program in this country will be lucky to have you!

It was an honor to present at SEMSS (#SEMSS2024)(APSA) hosted by Vanderbilt MSTP. Thank you to everyone who came to learn about my years of type I diabetes research and life experience. I look forward to engaging with the #doubledocs community for years to come!

Last week, I presented for the third time at the Biomedical Engineering Society Annual Meeting (#BMES2024). It was an honor to share novel updates to my β cell reprogramming research, connect with graduate programs, and reconnect with my fellow type I diabetes bioengineers!

A great talk this afternoon in the OhioStateBME seminar series. Extremely fascinating and inspiring work being done UF BME!! I really enjoyed re-connecting with @Cherie_Stabler, hearing her novel updates, and chatting about all things type 1 diabetes!!

It was great to present again in Chicago at the APSA Annual Meeting this past weekend! #JointMeeting2025 An energizing way to end my career with Daniel Gallego-Perez and transition to my MD/PhD training! I cannot thank the Nanomedicine laboratory enough for these past 4.5 years!
