It's because they know what they are doing actually translates to actual lives lost due to gutting the healthcare system. Of course, they would want to hide the fact their policies, lack of funding or support of the workforce is responsible for the deaths of many Ontarians.

More examples of why Canada is an access disgrace. Only in this country are nurse, personal support workers and doctor shortages confidential information. I just saw a tweet from a doctor who is hella paternalistic & binary in thinking.
Doctors do not 'know' what patients want. They know how to treat illness and disease.
Patients know what patients want. Patients should be provided with info to make informed decisions. Thats it.

What a ridiculous question. We can walk and chew gum.
The other issue--is the fact that racism is inherently baked into the cake of medicine. There are practices (today) rooted in racist beliefs that cause harm to racialized patients. We are not outliers. Easy on the US Koolaid.

If we’re going to have a serious conversation about competency, we have to acknowledge two things:

- patients are harmed at alarmingly high rates right now, with the number stable over the past couple decades
- when patients are “othered” that rate spikes

I was a victim of intimate partner violence during my first pregnancy & postpartum.

I was an OBGYN resident at the time.

The counsellor I saw at student health told me that I needed to get out but that leaving during pregnancy would increase the likelihood of homicide.
