No matter the race/ethnicity, the illiterate person is a slave of the government. There’s no “equity” in education if the student cannot read/write/spell/numerate proficiently—PERIOD. Wake the 🤬 up, America. CRT/DEI/SEL mean nothing if your kid can’t read. #LiteracyIsEdEquity

NO NO NO! We have literacy institutes across the state. They are our public schools. Please put this funding into ensuring our teachers are adequately prepared to teach reading based on the evidence base.

Monday afternoon the founding board for TRL-NM met with TRL national and the founding board members for Wyoming, Idaho and New Hampshire. These 4 states launched their state chapters as we did. It was emotional. But it’s time - Let’s go! nm.thereadingleague.org

Friends, please join me for this important conversation. NM has done a lot to help turn the tides in literacy instruction but we have a long way to go if we intend to ensure that all children in NM have access to high quality literacy instruction.

NZ Education Minister Erica Stanford has confirmed the end of #ReadingRecovery in NZ schools. This is history in the making & time now for a true “reading recovery” for NZ children. No child should have to recover from their initial reading instruction 🙌 newshub.co.nz/home/politics/…

TRL - NM made its first appearance at the NM PED Literacy Convening. We had Dr. Heidi Beverine-Curry return to the conference to talk oral language and the research behind the 6step lesson plan. More learning today. Time to run NM - RUN towards better outcomes for children.
