Across the country people are switching to today’s changed Labour Party so we can change Britain together.

Voting Labour on Thursday 2 May is the first step towards a mission-led Labour government.

The spending watchdog called the Tories' early years and childcare rollout not fit for purpose.

The Tory-run Education Department called it 'problematic.'

Families deserve better. It's time for a General Election. It's time for Labour.

Council housing gave my family the comfort and security they needed to get on.

Hemel still has above the national average numbers of council homes. But it's not enough.

We need far more social housing ⬇️🏘️

Great to have Alison McGovern in Gloucester yesterday for the Channel 4 debate and making the case to build more social housing. We have thousands of families on housing waiting lists in Gloucester - its time for change 🌹

Waiting lists are just south of 8 million.

40,000 children wait 2 years for mental health support.

Rishi Sunak has no idea what that’s like.

And no plan to deal with it.

Only Labour has a plan to get people off waiting lists and back to work.

Britain’s railways are broken.

Cancellations have soared to record levels, fares have risen almost twice as fast as wages, and taxpayers are paying through the teeth to prop up a failing system.

Labour will deliver a publicly owned railway that puts the passenger first.

Our statement on the sad death of Frank Field:

Frank was a steadfast, highly successful and diligent campaigner against child poverty. It is largely down to Frank that we have child benefit today – a truly towering achievement.

Very sad news. Always supportive of me as his Parliamentary neighbour, brimming with ideas to make society better - a great champion of his Birkenhead constituents: RIP Frank

Frank Field cared deeply about people and refused to be bound by the status quo. That drove his outstanding work campaigning against poverty and for Birkenhead. He taught me to be careful and reasonable when arguing for what I believe in and never to give up.

I’ll miss him.

Very sad news. Frank served the people of Birkenhead for 40 years. Everyone in the Wirral will be thinking of his life and contribution. He was indeed unique and a very special person to work with. His work will have an impact for many years to come. Thinking of his loved ones.

Today is a landmark day for football - 2nd reading of the Football Governance Bill. Sets up Independent Football Regulator to protect financial sustainability of football. Stephanie Peacock & I spoke for The Labour Party and many colleagues spoke. Next stage = committee scrutiny.

🌹 60,000 jobs
🌹 35,000 training courses funded each year
🌹 30,000 apprenticeships
🌹 30,000 homes

✅ I'm proud of the progress we've made in the last 7 years - but it's just the start.

🗳️ Vote The Labour Party on 2 May and, together, we'll take back our future from Westminster.

Happy St George's Day - and happy Shakespeare's day.

Here's one of my favourites: act 2, scene 4 from Twelfth Night as canny and clever Viola (disguised as a man) speaks to Orsino about love ❤️

What's your favourite Shakespeare?

For me patriotism is about more than symbols and sentiment; it’s a driving value.

My mission-driven government will make sure opportunity is determined by talent and ambition, not geography or background.
