Clemens Engert, based in Vienna, is Alien Hand Syndrome . We Will Never See the Stars was released last year as part of the Tales of Waking EP. Engert’s spare vocals rise and fall over a swirling electronic backing that creates a soundscape of claustrophobia, alienation and dread.

The lyrics tell the story of people who can never leave the place they are born into. It sounds like Leonard Cohen channelled through Depeche Mode. Alien Hand Syndrome is an act I really want to discover further, and I look forward to more music from Engert’s gothic imagination.
