It was reprehensible when people mocked condoms at the height of the AIDS pandemic. It is just as depraved to mock those wearing masks to reduce the airborne virus spread today. Whenever someone takes any step to protect public health, they should be applauded, not mocked.

Talking openly about taking territory by force shouldn’t be normalized. When U.S. officials are asked how that would differ from Russia’s actions in Crimea, the answer matters. Saying “it’s best for everyone” doesn’t replace international law, consent, or self-determination.

The President will misrepresent the truth tonight, especially on healthcare. Sure, there’s been *talk* on ultraprocessed foods and some progress on digital health tech. The rest? A catastrophic failure, and by far the worst healthcare record in memory. We are far worse off.

It’s alarming that CDC hasn’t issued a #HAN alert on the #measles outbreak in South Carolina. In normal times, this absolutely would have triggered an advisory to clinicians nationwide. Measles is one of the most contagious diseases we know. Another example of public

This is why Denmark doesn’t need the universal birth dose of the hep B vaccine. Their national health system & data is so comprehensive that their policies have eliminated diseases like HIV & syphilis. In Denmark, everyone’s risk can be accurately quantified. Not so in the US.

We were told NIH funding cuts were about eliminating DEI. But the data now shows grants are down across nearly every field of medicine: cancer, diabetes, mental health, brain disorders. With the greatest cuts hitting Alzheimer’s research, down more than 50%.

Elon Musk and billionaires get a tax cut. 7 million Americans with Alzheimer’s get further from a cure. As a caregiver, I am sick and tired of this. We must fund medical research. Millions of American families depend on it.

With the FIFA World Cup 2026 approaching—spanning 16 host cities, including Dallas, and >5M visitors—infectious disease risk is real. Honored to give Grand Rounds on threats from VHFs and vector-borne diseases to respiratory pathogens and STIs—and how we can prepare now.

Trump is day by day doing permanent damage to American science. I spoke to a friend of mine working in physics. One of the databases he uses was completely wiped clean because it also included evidence of climate change.

We need to do a bipartisan dive, if we can, into the high cost of healthcare in this country, and the growing cost of pharmaceuticals, and what Congress can do to bend that curve, Rep. Diana DeGette tells the Bipartisan Commission on Biodefense.
