If the Legislature continues to try pass
this wildly unpopular OPRA gut, they are proving they have a blatant disregard and disrespect for the public they are meant to serve.

It’s not just bad policy, it’s bad politics.

The OVERWHELMING majority, across demographics and geographies, rejects changes to OPRA.

FILED! Today, we filed another amicus brief—this time in the Third Circuit—in the case seeking to end NJ’s unconstitutional “county line” primary ballot system.

The county line offends the First Amendment, and New Jerseyans deserve fair elections now.

None of this is normal, by the way. People from the South (or anywhere else) shouldn’t have to travel to get abortions. They shouldn’t have to find back doors to abortion pills. Abortion should be available in all of our communities. We can’t get cede this ground.

Let us be clear: The atrocities committed by the Israeli military in al-Shifa hospital are the direct result of the US government’s continued support. 🧵

🚨URGENT ACTION NEEDED🚨

The fight to protect OPRA continues! Legislation could advance this month and we need your help to stop it. Tell your legislators to vote NO on A4045/S2930!

They feel the pressure! Keep it up! Let them know that you don’t want them to pass the OPRA bills

And if you have a council meeting soon, show up and tell them you want them to oppose the OPRA bills

The Leg needs to hear that the League doesn’t speak for all towns

This fight has been a long time coming TY for the PERSISTENCE!!
The marginalized have been & continue to be THE margin of victory. Up until now, almost every voter played second fiddle to a group of party bosses who dictated their version of “democracy”... Now it’s done

I'll try to predict the future. This is the image we'll all think about when we reminisce about this inflection point in NJ politics.

We applaud the district court’s decision to issue a preliminary injunction putting an immediate stop to the use of the “county line” in NJ primaries.

As we explained in our amicus brief, the “county line” violates voters’ constitutional rights. aclu-nj.org/en/press-relea…

Never forget the power of empirical & compelling research. Julia Sass Rubin produced the most important analyses needed to show the tangible impact & benefit of The Line after decades of insiders denying it. A crucial piece of the puzzle that led to today!

This is a HUGE (‼️) win for democracy!

Voters — not party insiders — will now have the power to choose their own representatives.

This will transform elections and result in better policies now that elected officials will be accountable to the people.
