Remembering John William Warden (ex pupil) Private, D Company, 16th Battalion, Welsh Regiment. He survived  Mametz Wood which took so many in his regiment but killed in action days later near Courcelles.  He lost his life on the 18 July 1916. #AlwaysRemembered #WW1

Remembering Maitland Cooper Bolton Sergeant, 7th Battalion, Canadian Infantry. Maitland Cooper Bolton was born on 1 Nov 1890. Maitland attended Albany Road School before moving onto Howard Gardens School in 1903.  By the time WWI began he had emigrated to Canada.  #WW1

His Battalion arrived in France in Feb 1915 and he received regular promotions, to Lance Corporal in Sep 1915, Corporal in Apr 1916 and Sergeant in Jun 1916. He was killed in action on 26 Jul 1916 on the Western Front aged 25.  #WW1 #AlwaysRemembered

By the end of the first week there were 138 girls and 154 boys attending. There was a Boys school, Girls school & Infant school.

Remembering Albert Aubrey Wade, a past pupil of Albany. Albert served with the 23rd Battalion (1st Sportsman’s) in the Royal Fusiliers.  Killed in action on 14 Nov 1916 aged 35 on the Somme in France.  He is buried at the Serre Road Cemetery No.2 (grave I. G. 30.) in France. #WW1

Remebering Geoffrey David Davies was born on 15 Jul 1891 . Attended Albany Road School as a child. Died of wounds received in action at Bourlon Wood, part of the  Battle of Cambrai, on 27 Nov 1917 in France aged 26.  He is buried at the Rocquigny-Equancourt British Cemetery #WW1

Remembering Thomas Henry Cuthbert Stephens, past pupil of Albany. A Signaller, 96th Siege Battery,Royal Garrison Artillery. Survived the war and was discharged 8 Mar 1919 having been previously injured or due to illness, died 18 Mar 1920,aged 24.  Buried at Cathays Cemetery #WW1

Lance Corporal ERNEST McLEA 10th Bttn, Royal Welsh Fusiliers, b.1896 Attended Albany Rd School and later worked as a railway telephone clerk. KIA 13 Apr 1918,France, aged 21. On St Edward’s war memorial. His older brother Edward McLea was killed in WWII.

2nd Lieut Harry Bladon, 4th Battn, Welsh Regiment. Lived in Glenroy St, attended Albany Rd Sch. After school he became Private Secretary to Lord Glanely, the ship owner William Tatum. Died of wounds on 1 Sep 1918 on Western Front. Buried at the Morval British Cemetery, France.
