With our Regional Director for Southern Africa Valentin Tapsoba, I met with Dr Edmos Mtetwa, Acting Permanent Secretary, and Totamirepi Tirivavi, Commissioner for Refugees, as well as Edward Kallon, WFP Zimbabwe Terre des Hommes Italia in Zimbabwe, World Vision Zimbabwe to discuss refugee protection.
It's an honour hosting the UNHCR Regional Director Valentin Tapsoba & Ahmed Baba Fall. We had a progressive engagement on our humanitarian-development nexus towards refugee protection. We are committed to the cause.
We have taken our greening project to another level. We utilise every opportunity to plant trees. Today Ahmed Baba Fall Valentin Tapsoba and the District Development Coordinator for Chipinge planted fruit trees at the Tongogara ECD centre to be transformed into an Infant school.

“We need to address the root causes to prevent displacements in 🇲🇿, in addition to good policies and laws to respond toward internal displacement caused by violence and #Naturaldesasters events.”, said Ahmed Baba Fall during the panel discussions on the ongoing symposium on data.
This is the civil registry office in Mocimboa da Praia, Northern Mozambique. It was devastated by armed insurgents during their occupation of the town. Thousands lost vital documents. Restoring legal identity is key to reconstruction work led by the government with United Nations support.
Concluding a joint visit with Robert Piper to Mozambique, where conflict and climate change underpin a complex displacement situation: recent attacks have forced 70,000 to flee but more than 600,000 have returned. Time to pivot to development, also to help prevent more displacement.
