It's generally engaging with my Twitter community or sorting emails but it sets a terrible example, especially as I tell her she can't go on hers...

Working to rectify it.

On this note, my wife and I have realised we are addicted to our phones. So, to set a better example to our two kids our phones don't come out now before the school run and go away after school until their bed time.

And, I actually feel MUCH better for it.

Is Haidt right that social media is behind an epidemic of teen mental illness?
Quick answer: there is no quick answer. These are complex intersecting phenomena & measurement is hard. But saying this doesn't sell books!
I recommend Eric Levitz's 🧵picking apart some of the issues:

1) I did a deep dive on the debate over whether social media is ruining teens' mental health. TLDR: The evidence is much weaker than Jonathan Haidt suggests, but not as negligible as his critics claim.

Wonderful to meet with my original collaborator, Adrian Bethune MCCT, today. Now we have dogs, humans don’t play a key role in photos. His is the clean one.

Good grief, they're not scholars, they're children. Just because we can do something, it doesn't mean that we should. Young children are not mini-adults, we can't complain about children not being 'school ready' if we're not giving them what they need when they need it.
