Bone erosion of mastoid is indicative of coalescent osteomyelitis. Look for associated complications such as epidural abscess (adjacent to sigmoid sinus) and/or sigmoid sinus thrombosis. #IPNTN #pedineurorad #neurorad

Not all retropharyngeal swelling is caused by a typical retropharyngeal abscess. Look carefully for where the infection is centered and for atypical features that clue you in to alternative diagnosis. #IPNTN #pedineurorad #neurorad

Important to look at the patient! Fever, tachycardia, marked skin erythema, toxic looking may reflect MRSA abscess. Cervical adenopathy, retropharyngeal edema, and characteristic skin lesions on hands/feet can be seen in MISC (Kawasaki like). #pedineurorad #neurorad #IPNTN
