On Friday, IUCEA bid farewell to the ACE II Project Coordinator Jonathan Mbwambo who concluded his tour of duty after serving on the World Bank financed project for close to six years. He rejoined Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) as Director of Internationalisation. Nashkuru sana Prof Mbwambo.

Delivering an Africa-wide event with close to 400 participants is no small feat. From curating the agenda to securing speakers, managing live streaming & a cohesive branding strategy, the task is undeniably challenging. Yet, we rose to the occasion & brought it all together.Bravo

The ACE II Regional Steering Committee (RSC) is underway in Mauritius to evaluate project performance and offer strategic planning & oversight. It is composed of directors and commissioners from the Ministries of Higher Education from the project countries and IUCEA

Dr Sima Rugarabamu studied a PhD in Virology SACIDS Foundation for One Health. Her research aimed to improve the detection & differentiation of viral haemorrhagic fevers in #Tanzania. She is now a lecturer Muhimbili University Collectively, ACEs awarded 602 #scholarships using ACE funds, 246 of them to women

IUCEA, the Regional Facilitation Unit of ACE is at the Copperbelt University The Copperbelt University to document lessons and experiences gained by the Africa Center of Excellence for Sustainable Mining (CBU ACESM) in the implementation of the World Bank supported ACE II project.

We are The University Of Zambia today. Happy to see huge contributions by the Center of Excellence aceidha_zambia. With the ACE, PhD & Msc completion rates improved, enrolment of students from the region increased, built a state-of-the-art structure & motivated plans to create more ACEs at UNZA.

Amazing how far the ACE has come

Since 2017 the Africa Center of Excellence for Infectious Diseases of Humans and Animals aceidha_zambia has recruited 226 Msc and PhD students. 125 of them have graduated 🎓. The ACE has two internationally accredited programs with Germany based accreditation agency ASIIN.
