Trauma Informed Care is not “Tell me all about your trauma” or “what happened to you?” Trauma Informed Care is assuming that everyone carries trauma and being sensitive to how that may affect them. You don’t need to know what the trauma is to be trauma informed.

Fact. So much progress still to come...our thinking, our values, culture, levels of acceptance of others and understanding. Change is slow and will take longer than a lifetime. Power to the elbow of the agents for change bringing glimmers of hope!

Our core task as adults is to regulate the brainstem of our young people who are dysregulated. A child who is dysregulated will not be able to engage.We need to regulate the brainstem back to the thinking brain so our YP can access skills needed for cognitive processing.

We can change the way kids brains work.Their brilliant brains developed to protect them from harm and now they are stuck reacting to perceived threats.With consistent repetitive healthy nurturing relationships, we can help them heal and fulfill their potential.
