On 24 May 1915, a nine hour truce between ANZAC and Turkish forces was arranged to allow each side to bury their dead.

During the truce, troops exchanged items as gifts. Trooper Charles Livingstone exchanged a few coins for this belt buckle with a Turkish soldier.

This large toy lion was the ‘ship’s cat’ for HMAS Darwin from November 2002 to December 2003.

His name is ‘URDEF’, after the urgent defect (URDEF) repairs which caused the Darwin to stop in the port where he was purchased.

Henryka Shaw survived the Krakow ghetto and five concentration camps. Her experiences haunted her, but her children encouraged her to share her story of survival.
