What a great event organised by APPG LGBT+ on LGBTQ+ in the commonwealth. It was powerful to hear what is happening in each region of the commonwealth from The Commonwealth Equality Network Thank you Kaleidoscope Trust for helping set this great organisation up. #equalize

A busy day in with The Commonwealth Equality Network in Parliament hosted by APPG LGBT+ & Commonwealth Parliamentary Association UK, then at Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office talking all things LGBTI+ in the Commonwealth. Followed by a online meeting with Pride in the Borders.

It was an absolute pleasure to host the incredible Management Committee of The Commonwealth Equality Network to discuss LGBT+ Activism in the Commonwealth and what UK Parliamentarians can do to support their crucial work Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) HQ Elliot Colburn Angela Eagle DBE Nick Herbert Liz Barker

It was a privilege to host Hungarian MP and Chair of the Hungarian Parliament LGBT Intergroup David Bedo. Parliamentarians cross-party met with him to show solidarity with the LGBT+ community of Hungary amidst an increasing roll-back of LGBT+ rights both in Hungary and beyond.

Minister for Equalities Stuart Andrew and Hungarian MP and Chair of the Hungarian Parliament's LGBT Intergroup David Bedo MP discussed anti-LGBT laws in Hungary and the crucial work being done by the Intergroup, civil society and activists to stand up for the LGBT+ community.

Today is #TransgenderDayofVisibility so throughout the day we're highlighting some of the incredible organisations we've been working with who advocate for the rights of trans and gender diverse people around the world. #TDOV

In the debate relating to the definition of sex I’ve just spoken up for the Equality Act and spoke up for our trans and non-binary friends. Let me say clearly as #Plymouth’s first out MP I am a trans and non-binary ally. I believe in equality. 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

On Monday, MPs across parties stood up for our world-class Equality Act in Parliament. The UK Government must commit to protecting our hard-won rights. The Equality Act is effective legislation that protects us all from discrimination and harassment - including trans people 🏳️‍⚧️

Lord Fowler Vice Chair of the APPG today asked the government what is being done to help the LGBT+ in Uganda.   The LGBT community in Uganda is on lockdown now. They don't have HIV preventive and treatment services.

Co Chair Liz Barker asked what is being done to document the impact of the bill will have on the Ugandan public health & economy. Uganda’s progress on its HIV response is now in grave jeopardy. The Act has already led to reduced access to prevention and treatment services.

Lord Popat the UK Ugandan Trade Envoy stated that the Anti-Homosexuality Act of 2023 violates multiple fundamental rights guaranteed under Uganda’s constitution. The Act will not only impact the LGBT+ community it will impact the Ugandan economy.

Today we are celebrating International Pronouns Day.🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️   Pronouns Matter. We must normalize respecting, sharing, & educating about personal pronouns to ensure a more inclusive society.
