Honoured to join Parliamentarians for the Big Iftar in Westminster Hall, breaking fast during Ramadan. Delighted the PM joined us, highlighting our diversity. Seeing him & the Palestinian Ambassador break fast together was a powerful reminder of our shared goal: peace for Gaza.

It was an honour to attend the first Iftar held in Westminster Hall yesterday evening with Prime Minister Keir Starmer. Thank you to British Muslims for organising this moving and historic event.

Today is Ash Wednesday and the beginning of Lent. A time for reflection and repentance, of fasting and forgiveness, as we prepare for Easter. After the outrage towards the Big Iftar in Parliament yesterday, I doubt we’ll see the same opprobrium directed at our service today… 🤷🏻‍♂️
