Lent begins on Wednesday, and in our short film for families, you can find out all about this holy season, how we mark it here at the Abbey - and why we eat pancakes at this time of year! ⤵️ #Lent #Lent2025

Wonderful to share the Iftaar with the PM for the first time in Westminster Hall. Under his premiership Britain is a place where all faiths can feel comfortable. #Ramadan2025 #ShroveTuesday

Honoured to join Parliamentarians for the Big Iftar in Westminster Hall, breaking fast during Ramadan. Delighted the PM joined us, highlighting our diversity. Seeing him & the Palestinian Ambassador break fast together was a powerful reminder of our shared goal: peace for Gaza.

It was an honour to attend the first Iftar held in Westminster Hall yesterday evening with Prime Minister Keir Starmer. Thank you to British Muslims for organising this moving and historic event.

Today is Ash Wednesday and the beginning of Lent. A time for reflection and repentance, of fasting and forgiveness, as we prepare for Easter. After the outrage towards the Big Iftar in Parliament yesterday, I doubt we’ll see the same opprobrium directed at our service today… 🤷🏻‍♂️

An honour to attend the first-ever Big Iftar in Westminster Hall. Britain’s strength, like Ilford South’s, lies in our diversity. Celebrating each other’s festivals in the heart of our democracy shows the power of our unity & the fight for everyone’s rights to be respected.

When racist riots were engulfing us; in Slough, Christians, Hindus, Jews, Sikhs and others openly declared if anyone tried to attack a local mosque, we’ll stand in solidarity with our Muslim community to protect it. Vital we don’t allow those seeking to divide society succeed.
