Proud of #IB cohort 9! Listening to them share their inquiries warmed my heart💙; they get it. Teaching and learning is reciprocal & relational. It’s about people and helping them build skills for life. It’s about transparency, agency, & care. YES 👏! UBC Teacher Education #UBCBEd2022

Putting my UBC inquiry project into practice - incorporating movement and mindfulness into the classroom. Students made gratitude journals last week and did their first journal entry today! #UBCBEd2022

The grade 3s were very interested in a math lesson we did inspired by Haida Bentwood boxes. So, we followed up with an inquiry lesson into Bentwood boxes - they used books, videos, and websites to find the answers to all of the questions they had! #IBPYP #UBCBEd

This week 3P did an inquiry into land acknowledgements. We discussed important terms to incorporate, researched the history and significance of the Indigenous lands we live on, brainstormed what we are thankful for about this land, and finally wrote an acknowledgement together.

A fun hands-on symmetry lesson! Students worked collaboratively using pattern blocks to create symmetrical shapes. #IBPYP #UBCBEd

In UOI this week, students inquired into constellations/star stories from Indigenous cultures. Then they shared constellations and star stories from their own cultures. Finally, they picked their favourite constellation and painted it! #IBPYP

The Golden Girls ⁦Arden Mollenhauer⁩ ⁦@RoniFeldman_⁩ ⁦Taylore Jones⁩ finish off an amazing #UBCCFE in SD 6 👏! Biggest takeaways: the power of relationships & outdoor learning 👍. Thanks to the Rocky Mountain SD for hosting them. #UBCBEd2022

It has been a great day of professional learning with our new-to-Southpointe Junior School teachers! Mrs. MacIntyre, Junior School Principal, spent the day collaborating with teachers to discuss research-based best practices for assessment and evaluation.
