⚡ NEW ⚡️ Our latest research finds that the National Wealth Fund could be empowered to use its recent £7.3 billion funding boost to mobilise £180 billion for public investment by the end of this Parliament. Kalyeena Makortoff covers in The Guardian 👇 theguardian.com/business/artic…

If the planned National Wealth Fund was permitted to operate as a fully fledged bank (rather than just a static government fund) then the modest £7.3bn of public money it's been promised could grow to £180bn by the end of the Parliament 👇👇👇

Brilliant revival of the CfD auction, which totally flopped last time under previous govt. The price offered by needed to be higher, but for comparison, the Hinkley Point C strike price has risen to £128/MWh and the new offshore of £59/MWh is nowhere near the maximum of £73/MWh

We are deeply saddened to hear that at least 12 people lost their lives crossing the Channel today. The lack of safe routes to the UK forces people to make dangerous journeys, which costs lives. The Gov't needs to take immediate action & open pathways for people seeking safety.

Oh dear, some pretty major mistakes made in this The Telegraph article on the Government renewables auction results today. Some mistakes have been spotted and it's already undergone hefty revisions (see below) - but it remains fundamentally misleading. Here's what it got wrong 🧵

Each and every one of us with a platform has a responsibility to correct others on the truth about asylum seekers claiming benefits and free homes. They can’t. They receive just £49 a week or £9 if given food. Only if and when they get refugee status can they claim or get a job.

This woman admitted to an offence, to inciting violence, with her X post. The post had been reported. X refused to take it down, saying it didn't break its rules. Didn't X - at that point, even if not earlier - become this criminal content's publisher? bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

It’s not ‘just rivers’ but almost certainly another symptom of regulatory failure. When the private sector is involved in delivering public goods, at the very least the regulator needs teeth - it’s the same for rivers as it is for public housing.

Thoughts and prayers with the lady and her family. Despite changes, Parly Square is still one of my least favourite places to cycle in London.

Good news: more children are walking, cycling and taking public transport to school since the introduction of the ULEZ in central London. Not only is the ULEZ helping tackle London’s toxic air, but it is also encouraging families to be more active. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…
