When it comes to decisions...

Conversation ≠ Understanding.

There is often a disconnect between patients and families. Even when doctors do 'consult' patients and/or families about a DNACPR decision, sometimes the discussion is so cursory as to not be fully understood.

Particularly these issues:

1️⃣ Unlike in the United States, here in the UK there are no clinical guidelines in respect of people who chose to voluntarily stop

'The choice... is very significant. And it is not a role to be undertaken lightly.'

Pleased to be interviewed for this article about the top regrets of the dying - a topic which is often covered in a superficial way, hopefully we added some raw humanness! inews.co.uk/inews-lifestyl…

Every clinician having advance care planning conversations should read this report. In Suffolk & North East Essex Integrated Care System we have moved to ReSPECT and we continue to advocate and educate for better communication in the last phase of life.
