This year, we successfully expanded our programmes to Botswana, Lesotho, and Sierra Leone, effectively broadening our presence from eight countries in 2022 to eleven at the end of 2023.

A central tenet of our work is promoting justice through knowledge dissemination and exchanges. In 2023, the AGA-Africa Programme organized and supported 28 training in Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Nigeria, Rwanda, Uganda, South Africa, Zambia, Lesotho, Sierra Leone, and Botswana.

Through our various regional engagements, the AGA-Africa Programme successfully convened a diverse group of experts to impart knowledge that can bolster the capabilities of African justice actors in combating a range of transnational crimes.

Additionally, we supported nine conferences, sponsored one social impact initiative, and facilitated a judicial study tour. Indeed, the programme is keen on expanding its regional engagements in 2024 and beyond to promote responsive justice systems in Africa. #AGAAfrica2023

In our endeavour to harness the power of sports in addressing Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and promoting gender equality in Africa, the AGA-Africa Programme has collaborated with the Basketball Africa League (BAL) and the National Basketball Association (NBA).

In addition to organising and supporting training sessions and workshops on various contemporary topics in law and justice, the AGA-Africa Programme also promotes knowledge exchange through book donations. #AGAAfrica2023 #LegalEmpowerment #CollaborativeJustice

In 2023, the program presented legal books to various stakeholders in Kenya, Zambia, Malawi, and Nigeria. We are eager to expand this initiative to other countries as we endeavour to strengthen legal knowledge across Africa.

The AGA-Africa Programme, in collaboration with Books For Africa and the Thomson Reuters Foundation, donated a legal library worth over $40,000 to support the continuous learning and capacity building of the criminal justice sector in Africa. #AGAAfrica2023 #LegalEmpowerment

Our team was on the ground, closely monitoring and contributing to the transparency and fairness of the electoral process.

In a concerted effort to enhance our impact and expand our reach, the AGA-Africa Programme has entered into five Memoranda of Understanding with key stakeholders in Malawi, Uganda, Lesotho, and Sierra Leone, solidifying cohesive partnerships that align with our shared objectives.
