This is absolutely unacceptable, I appreciate that the news is shedding some light on this facility and I’m praying for all involved, the staffing shortages across the state in all facilities is making these prisons unsafe for staff, workers and residents!

ACLU also brings suit challenging the Budget and the unlawful repeal of the enhanced earned sentence credits for hundreds & thousands of men and women who are to be released. Here’s hoping that common efforts prove successful and relief is granted ASAP.

Just FYI, it appears there’s exactly one lawyer or law firm in the entire Commonwealth—Elliott Harding—who’s willing to file suit challenging the repeal of the earned sentence credits statute. The potential plaintiffs don’t have any $$, there’s no court app’td counsel for this…

Update: Mr. Edmonds’ petition has been filed in Richmond City Circuit Court. Unlike traditional civil matters served via summons, a petition for a writ of habeas corpus is served following a circuit court’s grant of a show cause order. It’ll be days before Court enters one. 1/3

Dozens of prison reform advocates & returned Virginians gathered at the Capitol yesterday to speak out against the earned sentence credit revocation.

People who are incarcerated deserve to have their efforts at rehabilitation recognized. We won't be silent.
