On Sunday, Cadets from 865 (Portlethen) Squadron went for a walk in and around Stonehaven to practice navigation training. The group practiced reading OS maps, Grid references and looked at how to navigate in different terrains.

Today, 865 led a Lowland Walk with Cadets from 102 (Aberdeen Airport) and 1297 Stonehaven. Cadets practiced basic nav' techniques under blue skies in the forests around Bennachie. Rounded off with ice lollies in the Bennachie visitor centre at the end!

Saturday saw 865 (Portlethen) Squadron and 1297 Stonehaven Squadron, Air Training Corps join forces once again for another local event. Both units assisted the Newtonhill Village Association (NVA) with their annual firework display!

An honour to lay a wreath in remembrance of all from West Aberdeenshire and Kincardine who have fallen for our country, at Stonehaven today alongside other locally elected representatives, Legion Scotland Stonehaven, other Veterans Organisations and so many others. #Lestweforget

This week, a group of cadets from 865 (Portlethen), had a private tour of an Embraer 145 at the Loganair Line Engineering Facility at Aberdeen Airport. A huge thank you to Loganair, in particular Andy, for giving our cadets such a fantastic experience.

Inspiring the next generation and broadening horizons is so important. So we were proud to welcome a group of RAF Air Cadets to our Aberdeen operations. We're looking forward to more visits like this. Pretty sure we'll be seeing some of these faces again one day...!

Sunday say cadets and staff from 865 (Portlethen) Squadron going to Bennachie. This was an opportunity for the cadets to put their theoretical knowledge on map reading and navigation to the test in the real world.

Recently, we had a Dining In Night to celebrate the Squadrons 45th Anniversary. For many cadets it was their first formal dining event that they have been to. We all had a fantastic time and we’d like to thank all the members of staff and cadets for making this all possible.
