DFS 1 identified project preparation as a key challenge impacting on the implementation of PIDA. And while we have made progress, the challenges remain. #2ndDFS

AUDA-NEPAD rose to address this challenge of project preparation and after thorough and careful diagnosis we found that early stage project preparation was a particular aspect of project preparation that was not being adequately addressed.

To underscore the significance of the need for early stage project preparation let us remember that about 60% of projects in the PIDA PAP 2 portfolio are still in the early stages of project preparation phase, which means that much work has to be done.

We will mobilise the US$ 1 bil required to get the 42 projects that are at early-stage to the point of feasibility where they can attract project preparation financing. With the support of our partners, we have begun to address this deficiency with SDM and the PIDA Quality Label

This has yielded excellent results where more than 14 PIDA projects were supported and received close to $22 millions of financing to advance to the next stage.
