#OnThisDay 1798 Rear Admiral Sir Horatio #Nelson in HMS VANGUARD engaged the French at Aboukir Bay beginning the Battle of the Nile. The Royal Navy Force engaged Vice Admiral Brueys’ Fleet immediately and inflicted a defeat that halted Napoleons ambitions through Egypt to India.

We were honoured to have Lt Cdr Terry Gillard MBE RNR act as Lady Audrey Durant’s representative in naming a new kayaks bought by her in memory of the late Sir Tony Durant. Sir Tony was our long-standing unit President and great supporter of the Sea Cadets. #rdguk
