i love nascar but i just can’t jive with the “modern era.” call me a boomer, everything just feels fake and forced. playoffs, stages, “close” racing, questionable cautions & penalties (which aren’t new but def a weekly occurrence now) it just turns me away. i miss what it was.

Rewatching the @NASCAR_Xfinity ending is atrocious. It is NOT ok to lead the race and just get dumped on the last lap without penalty. Imagine if the same rules were applied to IMSA (which nascar owns). You lead the whole Rolex 24 and get pushed out the last lap? And it’s ok? No.

I can't fully blame NASCAR for Austin Hill being on the track. Only an asshole would give an asshole like Austin Hill a ride. And he does "drive" for RCR and Richard has shown himself to be an asshole for quite some time.

Back then the championship was merely a framework to link together the story of each race. Nowadays that framework is treated as the only story, so the races become forgettable.
