The LL was delighted to welcome Princess Royal to Co Londonderry. One of the first stops was with George Fleming, Fleming Agriculture, then onto Foyle Port to where the LL said her farewells.

A wonderful day for the county and to show the strength of agriculture in the area.

One by one, with their heads bowed, the ‘giants’ are rising among the fields of the Memorial site, with the view out to Gold Beach in the distance.

A most poignant tribute on this 80th anniversary year.

On this day in 1918 Karanbahadur Rana's actions earnt him a Victoria Cross. Leading a handful of soldiers against a machine-gun post, he opened fire, clearing the post and surrounding positions, staying cool under heavy fire. This allowed his colleagues to withdraw to safety.
