Infantry Basic Officer Leader Course students are working on their second operations order this week. This is a course-critical event where Lieutenants learn how to properly create and brief an order which will be a large part of their future careers as Infantry officers.

Private First Class Mata has officially become Specialist Mata! She has been with the 199th Brigade for the past two years and is excited to continue with her Army career here. Congratulations on the promotion!

Lieutenants in Infantry and Armor Basic Officer Leader Course completed land navigation this week. Students are given a compass, protractor, map, and grid coordinates to find 5-7 points to pass.

This morning members of the 199th BDE and 197th BDE participated in the CG's golf scramble. This is a recurring event that takes place on the last Friday of every month.

Today we are recognizing six 2nd Lieutenants and a cadre member from 3rd Platoon, Delta Company, 2nd Battalion, 11th Infantry Regiment (IBOLC) for using their training for a real-life causality while completing their graded patrols. Full story on Facebook!

Infantry Basic Officer Leader Course Lieutenants complete Weapons Density Week. The students learn how to properly shoot the AT-4, MK-19 automatic grenade launcher, and M2 .50 caliber heavy machine gun by first shooting practice rounds before moving on to live ammunition.

A wonderful promotion ceremony for our newest Field Grade Officer, Major Shafer! He has shown that he deserves this promotion through his hard work, dedication to his profession, and ability to lead by example. Congratulations Major Shafer, the 199th Brigade is lucky to have you.

Congratulations Class 09-23 on graduating from Officer Candidate School! You all have worked hard, stayed dedicated, and persevered through the course to earn the rank of 2nd Lieutenant! General (retired) Townsend was in attendance to support our newest officers.

ABOLC students are in the Clarke Simulation Center today learning how to maneuver and fire the Abram tank. This simulation allows students to use different weapons systems and learn how to lead an armor platoon against a simulated enemy. This prepares the LTs for the full gunnery

On Friday, we said goodbye to Command Sergeant Major Vincent Simonetti. He will move on to Fort Cavazos as the new First Army Division West Command Sergeant Major and the 199th Infantry Brigade wishes nothing but the best for him!

Leaders from the 199th Brigade met with commanders from Pakistan, Kazakhstan, and the Uzbekistan military to discuss the curriculum of IBOLC, ABOLC, and OCS. This strengthens our relationship with other countries and allows soldiers to complete courses in the U.S.

4th week of the Armor Basic Officer Leader Course (ABOLC), Lieutenants qualify on their individual weapon: the M17 pistol. The standard is to hit 21 out of 30 targets within 31 meters. The M17 allows officers to have maneuverability and operational flexibility while in combat.

Members of the 199th Infantry Brigade participated in a motorcycle ride for charity. The riders went to Opelika, Alabama where they ate lunch at Butcher Paper BBQ. The next stop was at the Fort Moore Commissary to pick up items to donate to the Battle Buddy Resource Center.

The 199th Brigade is giving a big welcome to First Sergeant Newberry! He is now the newest member of the 3rd Battalion, 81st Armored Regiment, and will undoubtedly do great in his new position.

Class 05-23 of the Armor Basic Officer Leader Course graduated today. Congratulations to these Armor Lieutenants and good luck to you all!

Congratulations to Class 05-23 of the Infantry Basic Officer Leader Course! They have endured 19 weeks of intense training and will now head to their follow-on schools including Ranger School and functional schools for the Lieutenant's specific units.

Leaders throughout the 199th Brigade participated in a remembrance event for the 2,977 Americans who died in the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon on this day, 22 years ago. #NeverForget
