Over the last week, cadets and staff have been focusing on First Aid. We have had 30 cadets and staff complete the St John Ambulance Essential First Aid on squadron. If you are aged 12-17 and are interested in gaining life skills, then get in touch to find out how to join.

As we move into Spring, cadets are starting to think about their Duke of Edinburgh Expeditions! To support their preparations a group of cadets enjoyed participating in hands on navigation training over the weekend at Hamsterly Forest, learning how to map read and take bearings!

Last weekend we had 6 cadets attend an Adventure Training weekend, along with 111 (Sunderland) Squadron. During this, cadets learned First Aid for outdoor scenarios, leadership skills, and moved onto Mountain Biking and Hiking. Overall, a great weekend for all involved.

Over the last 8 months we have had Flight Sergeant Boxall attending the Qualified Aerospace Instructors Course (QAIC), roughly once a month. Last week he graduated at RAF Wittering and received his QAIC lanyard. A huge congratulations to QAI Boxall!

Over the last month our cadets have attended many events. These activities include a visit to our local fire station, a DofE practice walk, air experience flying and also an air rifle range. These are amongst many of the activities we complete through the year within the RAFAC.

We're on the way home from another amazing special visit - the RAF Museum at Cosford. Alongside our friends from 1338 (Seaham) Sqn & @607WearmouthATC we weren't short of things to do, including the world's oldest Spitfire! Look out for more exciting joint events in the near future.

Last week, a team of cadets attended the Inter Services Cadet Rifle Meeting at Bisley National Shooting Ground. The team were very successful, with 2 cadets coming home with a Cadet 100 badge for scoring within the top 25% of the competition. 1/3

Corporal McCully placed 33rd, and Flight Sergeant Boxall placed 1st for the whole competition. Flight Sergeant Boxall also brought home 3 gold medals, 3 silver medals, and 3 trophies to be held on Seaham Squadron for the next 12 months. 2/3

Within Durham and Northumberland Wing, Flight Sergeant Boxall also won the highest scoring individual and the Seaham team scored highest team in the wing, bringing home an additional 2 trophies. Amazing work, and a huge well done to the team.

Last week Sergeant Tanner and Flight Sergeant Boxall attend the Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) to support the logistical side of the airshow. In doing this they had a great time and learned a lot about the behind the scenes of the show. 1/3

Flight Sergeant Boxall said "I managed to get onto the immersive tech team as a Qualified Aerospace Instructor. At RIAT I was running a variety of tech experiences for the public, giving an insight into the RAF Air Cadets. I really enjoyed the experience" 2/3

Yesterday we visited the National Space Center in Leicester, joint with 111 (Sunderland) Squadron and 607 (Wearmouth) Squadron. Both staff and cadets enjoyed the visit and would love to back. 1/2

This weekend we had 8 cadets complete their Bronze DofE Assessed expedition. The cadets started at Craster and traveled to Bamburgh Castle across the 2 days. The cadets camped overnight at Beadnell Bay campsite using the equipment they carried with them throughout the expedition.
