Brilliant birding day Kananaskis Alberta Parks today. The snows this week concentrated songbirds on the limited bare patches - thankfully midges were emerging from wetlands for feed.

I'm pleased to announce our taxonomic revision of the bee genus Triepeolus in South America is now published in European Journal of Taxonomy: doi.org/10.5852/ejt.20…. The 9 species can be identified with our fully-illustrated, dichotomous key (available in English, Portuguese, and Spanish).

April 2nd at Saskatoon Island Prov. Park west of Grande Prairie, a nice day brought out Gray Commas and Mourning Cloaks. Pussy Willows were nice to see too.

Our results show the remarkable ability of diapausing #bumblebee queens to withstand submersion underwater for up to 1 wk, indicating their adaptations to survive periods of flooding (likely to happen increasingly frequently under #ClimateChange ) when hibernating in the wild

Seeing moms with triplets used to be fairly common at about 10% of the population but is pretty rare now.
