“Wordcels” and “shape rotators” are just two cognitive archetypes that are easy to measure. We have overfitted “intelligence” to the professions needed over the past 50 years. Human minds can do so much more and IQ scores don’t capture the strengths needed in years ahead.

There is probably scope for as much mental specialization as there is for physical at the Olympics. There are probably one off savants who are specifically power law good at some specific thing or can be trained to it.

Now more than ever, focus on creating top 1% quality. There's going to be so much more STUFF … by more people creating, generative AI, etc. that you really don't want to find yourself in the messy middle.

For the last 7-8 years I have had a morning (usually a few times a week at least) ritual of attempting to implement a paper before getting to work on main line stuff. I am looking for papers that are lacking an open source implementation to start publishing some of these.
