The govt has started releasing ZiG notes and coins to the public. The 2 ZiG coin kind of looks like the old $1 ZWD coin from yester-years. This should quickly solve the change problem plaguing the informal sector. See the USD value of each ZiG note/coin zimpricecheck.com/price-updates/…

In Zimbabwe buying a house is a risky and dangerous game. Time and time again, the systems at the Deeds Office have proven inadequate even to the most enlightened buyers. Ordinary buyers often fall prey to fraudsters who then get away with their crimes. herald.co.zw/illegal-land-b…

What's chucky beef? What's brisket? Which part is the shin? Are you tired of pretending? Well, here is how they divide up a cow at the butchery. Most butcheries in Zimbabwe use the British system of making primal cuts. Now you know.

Supermarkets and businesses seem to be using different rates between 13.56 ZiG and 14.50 ZiG. It seems like the 10% rule is still in effect and supermarkets are choosing a stable rate rather than changing it every day. See more rates here zimpricecheck.com/price-updates/…

Year-on-year inflation was 57.5% in April up from 55.3% in March. USD inflation was a respectable 3.2%. Starting in May ZIMSTAT will now report a ZiG inflation rate instead of using the meaningless blended inflation figures. Low USD inflation exposes Zimbabwe's currency issues.

It must be tough being Sunlight and Boom these days. It seems we have a new brand of dish or toilet washer cropping up. Most brands are selling for US$1-US$1.50 per 2l depending on how much water they put in there. FYI Sunlight/Boom are still worth their price tag of $2 per 750ml

It's been two weeks since the ZiG was introduced and the rate confusion remains. One thing is clear a lot of businesses are not using the official rate. Thanks to years of turbulence organisations have become accustomed to volatility & any stability alleged or real confuses them.

Zimbabwe's power supply is around 1 500 MW today against a peak demand of around 2 000 MW. Internal generation is abt 1283 MW. ZESA doesn't report imports regularly but some reports put this at between 200 and 400 MW. So expect in a number of high density surbubs.

OK seems to be using a rate of 14.09 ZiG to 1 USD now. It's not clear whether the 10% rule on the interbank still applies. So many new rules, so many new SIs and even a new currency but without 10% today's rate is 13.44 see more rates here zimpricecheck.com/price-updates/…
